Challenge Update #19 - New blog: Report from AI Race Avoidance workshop, Tokyo
December 04, 2017
We have released a new blog post which we recommend to those interested in the AI Race Avoidance round of the General AI Challenge, launching on 18 January 2018.
The post outlines some of the findings from a recent workshop, organized by GoodAI, which took place in Tokyo, after the AI and Society Symposium.
The workshop aims to address the potential pitfalls of a race for transformative AI, as well as help plan for the next round of the General AI Challenge.
The AI Race Avoidance round will ask participants to come up with a proposal of what practical steps can be taken to avoid the pitfalls of the AI race and advance the development of beneficial general AI.
We have not yet finalized the criteria of the next round and are open to ideas from our community. If you think we have missed anything important from our blog, or generally have any ideas about how the round could run, we would love to hear from you, please leave comments at the bottom of the blog!
In the meantime, get reading, and get ready for the next round!
